Georgia is not going to start a military campaign to regain the territories that are actually under the control of the Russian Federation – South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Tbilisi does not even want to make any harsh statements against Moscow, so as not to incur the wrath of the aggressor.
This follows from the statement of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, which is quoted by the local agency Georgia online.
Scandalous statement
” Our people have already fought three times with the Russian Federation, we have experienced thousands of troubles. Then the August war, which brought devastating consequences and the occupation of our territories, which continues. We are at the right height, and I guarantee the population that there will be no second front ” Irakli Garibashvili told reporters.
Then the politician noted that it is not necessary to disturb the enemy even by harsh statements.
” If we do not analyze this well and continue this irresponsible rhetoric and irresponsible activities, including the destructive activities of internal enemies, it will be very bad. However, of course, our government will not allow this ,” said the Georgian prime minister.
Turn in the wrong direction
Accusations of a pro-Russian position against the background of the fact that the business empire of the richest and most influential citizen of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili, is concentrated in Russia are increasingly heard against today’s Tbilisi. Perhaps, precisely because of this position, Georgia was not invited to the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 and NATO countries, which is now taking place in Weissenhaus under the auspices of Germany.
According to Reuters, Georgia was not included in the list of countries participating in the event. But among them there are “fresh” candidates for joining NATO – Finland and Sweden, they also invited Ukraine and Moldova.
Bilateral Relations
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that the Caucasian countries that have frozen conflicts on their territory – Armenia and Georgia – intend to become economic partners of Russia, which has been sanctioned.
Although quite recently – in mid-April – Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili assured that his country would not allow any circumvention of international sanctions by Russia.
In the early days of the war, when Tbilisi was caught colluding with Moscow, the Georgian government made various statements to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and to Georgian consumers about their negotiations with the aggressor.
