The US is preparing a $1 billion military aid package for U kraine

US President Joe Biden’s administration is preparing a new $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which will include ammunition for long-range weapons and armored medical vehicles.

It is expected that the package of US military aid to Ukraine will be announced already on Monday, August 8. Its contents are still subject to change, but currently include munitions for HIMARS, munitions for the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile system, and up to 50 M113 armored medical vehicles.

According to Reuters, the new package is the result of the Pentagon’s recent decision to allow Ukrainians to receive medical care at a US military hospital in Germany near Ramstein Air Base.

So far, the United States has sent 16 HIMARS to Ukraine, and on July 1 it promised to send two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, the United States previously transferred 200 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

Last Monday, the Pentagon announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $550 million, including additional munitions for the High Mobility Artillery Missile Systems (HIMARS).

The total amount of US military aid to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion is $8.8 billion.
